(Bristol, Va).- The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol reported $22.32 million in total adjusted gaming revenue (AGR) for August 2025, marking the second consecutive month above $22 million, according to the latest Virginia Lottery report

Despite a slight dip from July’s $22.9 million, August represented the third-highest monthly total since the casino opened in November 2024.
Slots play drove the majority of revenue, generating $18.6 million from 1,384 machines, while table games contributed $3.71 million from 73 tables. The property generated $4.01 million in Virginia gaming tax revenue for the month — the third consecutive month surpassing $4 million — with $1.3 million directed to the Regional Improvement Commission, benefiting Bristol and 13 surrounding Southwest Virginia localities.
Virginia Casino Market Performance
Across Virginia’s three operating casinos, combined AGR reached $84.83 million in August, generating $17.6 million in state gaming tax revenue, $5.55 million for host localities, and over $140,800 for the problem gambling fund.
Caesars Virginia Casino in Danville continued to lead the state with $34.47 million in AGR, slightly down from $35.06 million in July. Slots revenue increased to $26.53 million, up from $24.5 million, while table game revenue dropped to $7.94 million from July’s $10.49 million. Caesars contributed $7.93 million in taxes, with $2.41 million going back to Danville.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth also saw growth in slots revenue, reporting $20.44 million compared to $18.8 million in July. Table games slightly declined to $7.58 million. Total August revenue reached $28.03 million, up from $26.7 million in July, generating $5.65 million in gaming taxes, with $1.8 million distributed to the host city.
Casino Developments in Virginia
Norfolk officials confirmed that a temporary Interim Gaming Hall will open by November 2025 near Harbor Park, offering only slot machines. A $750 million permanent casino resort, developed by Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe, is on track for a late 2027 opening.
Additionally, Live! Casino Virginia plans to open a 75,000-square-foot temporary facility in Petersburg by late 2025, featuring 900 slot machines, 33 table games, a bar, and a quick-service restaurant. This is a precursor to a $1.4 billion resort and entertainment complex projected to employ around 500 people.
